THIS IS AN INTRODUCTION!!!!! The commanders that served under Lee were blinded by this admiration. â€Å"His presence is everywhere. They hush when he passes, like an Angel of the Lord.† (pg. 63) Even as he walks down the street people salute him, bow to him, praise him. â€Å"A Pennsylvania woman flirted, asked for is autograph.† (pg. 78) Within the army Lee is worshipped by all members, low and high. When something goes wrong they will find someway to avert the blame from Lee, even though it may have been his fault, to someone else. â€Å"They love him. They do not blame him. They do impossible things for him.† (pg. 250) On the second day of the battle, when everything goes horribly wrong for the Confederate Army, no one blames Lee for the loss. It was his idea to (what was his plan again..) and yet after it failed everyone took it out on Longstreet. As Goree says on page 240 â€Å"They can’t blame General Lee. Not no more. So they take it out on [Longstreet].† Although Lee is one of the most loved Generals of all time, I don’t think he enjoyed it all that much. On page 79 he says that â€Å"Fame came too late. I would have enjoyed it, if I were younger man.† The Confederate Army could, and probably should, have won the Battle of Gettysburg. They started off the battle by overpowering the Union Army on the first day. Everyone is in good spirits and feeling that â€Å"with every step of a soldier, with every tick of the clock, the army was gaining safety, closer to victory, closer to the dream of independence.† (pg. 110) With this in mind they charged into the second day. This is when everything went wrong. Lee’s plan was to â€Å"attack en echelon, to take Cemetery Hill in reverse.† (pg. 184) Although most of the Confederate Army was against the procedure and thought it wouldn’t work, no one could persuade Lee to change his mind. And so the army went ahead and attacked the Union Army following Lee’s plan. The battle raged on for hours and by the end the Confederate Army had suffered an unpleasant loss. If they had used a different strategy I think they could have won on the second day. By the third day, however, things are looking grim. Even Longstreet admits it when he is talking to Lee; â€Å"I have to tell you now, sir, that I believe this attack will fail.

The process of integrating some of ABN AMRO's divisions into the new owners, and divesting others, continues. Since 6 February 2010 the bank has been split into one organisation owned by the Dutch government called ABN AMRO Bank N. The company would have a hard time giving women higher positions because there are still societies that view men superior to women and giving a managerial position to a female would mean that the company is disobeying the country’s culture. Some people in society do not even recognize discrimination against women because that is the way they were brought up, that is why the workplace often deal with discrimination, â€Å"Gender stereotypes lie at the heart of many of our perceptions of the workplace and the people that operate within it† (Heilman Welle 3). Discrimination in hiring due to gender must be demolished. If companies comply with society’s culture of pushing women down, it will never change. Companies must fight the norm and even if they lose a few customers, at least the moral of the company would remain. Today, equality is sought out by many. The company might lose people who discriminate women, but they would surely gain people who are for equality. Conclusion If a company like Subway patterned their management to a society whose culture is discriminative of women, they would definitely gain that society but lose customers who view men and women equally. But if a company like Subway chooses to adopt the culture of people and use Halal and Kosher meat, Subway would expand their usual customers. Newtons First Law of Motion Essay Newtons First Law of MotionSir Isaac Newton was in my mind one of the greatest people who everlived. He was born in 1642 and died in 1727. He formulated three laws ofmotion that help explain some very important principles of physics. Some ofNewtons laws could only be proved under certain conditions; actual observationsand experiments made sure that they are true. Newtons laws tell us how objectsmove by describing the relationship between force and motion. I am going to tryto explain his first law in more simple terms. Newtons first law of motion states: A body continues in its state ofrest or uniform motion unless an unbalanced force acts on it. When a body is atrest or in uniform motion this is called inertia. Lets say that someone parksa car on a flat road and forgets to put the vehicle into park. The car shouldstay in that spot. This state of being is called inertia. All of a sudden thewind picks up or some kid crashes into the car with a bike. Both the wind andthe kids bike crashing into the bike are unbalanced forces. The car shouldstart to move. The car might accelerate to two miles per hour. Now we wouldall assume that the car would come to a stop sometime. We assume this becauseit is true. It is true because there is friction between the tires and the road. The car now has inertia in uniform motion. Since there is friction, the carcannot keep moving forever because friction is an unbalanced force acting uponthe tires. What if there was not any friction? The car would keep going forever. That is if there was not any wind or a hill or any unbalanced force acting uponthe car. This is rather weird just to think about. Because this usually wouldnot happen in our customary world today. You just would not see a car go onforever. An easy experiment to demonstrate this law is to take a glass jar andput an index or a heavier than paper card over the top of the glass jar. Next,place a coin on the index card. Be sure that the index card is strong enough tosupport the penny without bending itself. Now place your finger about threecentimeters away from the card and flick the card out from underneath the coin. The coin should fall into the glass jar. The inertia of the coin keeps it inplace even when the card is moving underneath it. Science
